Watch: Bahraini man wins $1 million as Dubai Duty Free unveils new winners
Luxury vehicles won by entrants from Bahrain, UK, Armenia, Jordan, and Pakistan
DUBAI: A Bahraini national has become the latest lucky millionaire in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw, held at Concourse C of Dubai International Airport.
Mohamed Tareq Mohamed Akbar from Manama won the $1 million top prize in Millennium Millionaire Series 504 with ticket number 3897, purchased online on May 25. He is the fourth Bahraini to secure the million-dollar win since the promotion’s inception in 1999.
Interestingly, Akbar has yet to be informed of his massive windfall. Organisers said they have not reached him so far, but expect the news to come as a thrilling surprise.
Luxury car winners
The excitement didn’t end with the dollar millionaire announcement. The subsequent Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise draw awarded two high-end vehicles.
Agop Kazanjian, a 45-year-old Armenian plant manager living in Dubai, won a Mercedes Benz S500 (Selenite Grey Metallic) in Series 1924 with ticket number 1024. A consistent participant in the draw for over a decade, Kazanjian said, “Finally, I’m very happy that I have won! Thank you, Dubai Duty Free.”
Stefan Terry, a 44-year-old British national and long-time Dubai resident, claimed a Range Rover SE P360 (Ostuni Pearl White) in Series 1926. His winning ticket number 1840 was purchased at Concourse B on June 5. “This is absolutely unbelievable!” said Terry, who manages an investment firm.
Motorbike surprises
The motorbike category also produced two winners. Jordanian IT project manager Mohannad Abu Arja, 41, secured an Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory 1100 (Black/Red) in Series 625 with ticket 0742.
Muhammad Atif, a 23-year-old Pakistani family driver based in Hail, Saudi Arabia, won a BMW F 900 GS Adventure (Black Storm Metallic) in Series 626 with ticket 0371. It was his first time entering the draw.
